REPORT: Onlookers Scream As Boat Propeller Kills Woman Trying To Grab Sandals From Water

A woman died while on vacation in Colombia after being fatally injured in an accident with a boat propeller Nov. 28, according to reports.

Colombia native Natalia Andrea Larrañaga Fajardo died after a boat propeller hit her while she was in the water recovering her sandals, the Miami Herald reported, citing local news outlets La Razon and The Archipielago Press. Passengers on nearby boats allegedly screamed as they watched the machine fatally strike the woman, according to the Miami Herald.

Fajardo, 26, was visiting White Watta beach on the island of San Andrés on Sunday when she spotted friends on a boat offshore and climbed aboard to join them, according to the Miami Herald. When she jumped off to retrieve her sandals that were still in the water, she was reportedly struck by the propeller.

Immediately after the incident, Fajardo was taken by jet ski to the State Social Enterprise Departmental Hospital of San Andrés, according to the Miami Herald. Hospital staff reportedly told the press Fajardo sustained lacerations on her legs and lower spine which were heavily bleeding, the outlet continued.

She allegedly received multiple blood transfusions while in surgery, but later suffered a cardiac arrest and doctors were unable to resuscitate her, according to the Miami Herald. An investigation into the incident remains ongoing, according to the Miami Herald.
