A review of government records shows that Kanye West, known as Ye, allegedly owes California $600,000 in taxes for his clothing brand Yeezy, according to an NBC News report.

The $600,000 tax claim stems from three tax lien notices, over the last two years, sent in July, February and September of 2021, according to the NBC report. The alleged taxes owed come at a time when West and his businesses are under fire for a litany of controversial statements about Adolf Hitler and Jewish people, and follows an alleged $53 million dollars of debt he reported in 2016. “Multiple California tax liens, adding up to $600,000, that’s certainly a sign of either extreme incompetence or extreme cash problems,” USC Gould School of Law Professor Edward McCaffery said, according to NBC. “That is kind of an Amber Alert for the financial health of the enterprise.”

In California, a lien can be imposed if a company or taxpayer refuses to respond to letters requesting payment for taxes owed and requests that the offending party pay in full or set up a payment plan, according to NBC. As of January, California business records reported that West was in “good” standing.

Recently, West has come under fire for antisemitic comments on many podcasts and his own social media accounts. Last week, Ye spoke with Alex Jones on the InfoWars program where he prayed to Jesus after saying that he supported Hitler.

“I see good things about Hitler,” West told Jones. “I love everyone, and Jewish people are not going to tell me: You can love us and you can love what we’re doing to you with the contracts, and you can love what we’re pushing with the pornography.”

“But this guy [Hitler] that invented highways and invented the very microphone that I use as a musician, you can’t say out loud that this person never did anything good,” West claimed. “I like Hitler.”

Ye also sparked recent Donald Trump controversy, after it was reported that he brought vocal antisemite Nick Fuentes to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. Trump denied any involvement or knowledge of Fuentes’s presence, but the dinner resulted in many Jewish leaders and Republicans condemning the former president’s actions.

Yeezy did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
