A police officer in Georgia resigned after body camera footage allegedly showed him body-slamming a woman he was attempting to arrest in September.

Timothy Holbrook resigned following allegations that he used excessive force during the arrest of Annie Lloyd, 36, after detaining her for public drunkenness and obstructing a police officer Sept 24., 11Alive reported.

Prior to the incident, Lloyd had called the police, alleging someone was trying to steal her car and that she had been struck by a vehicle, the outlet reported, citing Oakwood Police Chief Tim Hatch. When Holbrook and another officer arrived on the scene, Lloyd was with a friend who was apparently trying to stop her from driving drunk, according to 11Alive.

Holbrook then attempted to get Lloyd a ride home, the outlet continued. When Lloyd failed to cooperate, Holbrook allegedly body-slammed her to the ground, prompting Lloyd to file a complaint against him a few weeks later.

The complaint opened up an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest, and the Oakwood Police Department placed Holbrook on administrative leave, according to 11Alive. Holbrook reportedly resigned before the department could officially terminate him. The officer had been with the department since July. The body camera footage and eyewitness statements were crucial to the Oakwood Police Department’s decision to discipline Holbrook, who will no longer be eligible for employment with the City of Oakwood due to the incident, the outlet reported.
