“Jackass” star Bam Margera is on a ventilator in the hospital after dealing with a very serious case of pneumonia, TMZ reported Friday.

The reality television star is receiving medical treatment in a San Diego hospital and is in stable condition in the ICU, according to TMZ. A positive COVID-19 test allegedly complicated Margera’s case of pneumonia, and doctors subsequently decided to put him on a ventilator, according to TMZ.

Further details surrounding Margera’s condition have not been made public.

Margera struggled with multiple stints in rehab over the course of 2022, and his health has been impacted by drug and alcohol abuse, according to TMZ. He recently finished a one-year treatment program for substance abuse, the outlet reported. The star allegedly spoke with an attorney while in rehab, who suggested he could “free Bam” by excusing Margera from the court-ordered treatment, according to TMZ. The “Free Bam” movement grew increasingly popular online, leading many to believe Margera was under a conservatorship, the outlet continued. Margera’s family has since become increasingly concerned for the star’s well-being, both emotionally and physically, TMZ reported.

Margera’s family and a temporary health care guardian allegedly began receiving threats over the summer, leading the parties to address the matter publicly.
