‘Parks And Recreation’ Actress Helen Slayton-Hughes Dies At 92

Actress Helen Slayton-Hughes, who played Ethel Beavers on “Parks And Recreation,” died at the age of 92 on Wednesday.

“Helen passed away last night. Her pain has ended but her fierce spirit lives on. Thank you for the love and support of her and her work. Rest sweet one,” Slayton-Hughes’ family said Thursday, according to TMZ. The cause of death was not disclosed.

“To our beloved Helen … you always made us laugh. Thank you for the love and laughter. You inspired us all by living your dream until the end. Rest now, our sweet Helen. We know the laughter will continue wherever you are,” a video montage posted to a Facebook page for the late actress stated.

Slayton-Hughes was born in 1930, and earned her first film acting credit at the age of 50 in the movie “Mafia on the Bounty” in 1980, according to Variety. After taking a break from 1982 – 2000, she went on to appear in various roles as a character actor in both movies and television including “New Girl,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and “Arrested Development,” among others, the report continues.

Slayton-Hughes most notably played the beloved cranky court stenographer Ethel Beavers on NBC’s popular comedy “Parks And Recreation” which aired from 2009 – 2015, according to IMDb. (RELATED: Nick Offerman Says He Was Constantly Given Extra Bacon At Restaurants After Taking Ron Swanson Role).

The video montage tribute to Slayton-Hughes included a quote of hers stating, “The universe is getting ready for a big project: preparing for my departure.”
