A female athlete was left concussed after a male checked her to the ice during a National Hockey League (NHL) sponsored “All-Trans Draft Tournament” in Wisconsin, Jonathan Kay reports.
The NHL came under fire in November for a tweet that read, “Trans women are women. Trans men are men. Nonbinary identity is real.” The league made the comment after announcing it would sponsor the tournament, which included about 80 “transgender and nonbinary players.” (RELATED: CNN Includes Photo Of Woman Getting An Abortion In 2022 ‘Year In Pictures’)
Kay reports on Quillette that despite outlets such as Vice sending crews to cover the event, no reporting emerged on how the game played out. The NHL didn’t comment on the outcome of the game, only tweeting photos of the event after it occurred. Kay says this was due to the obvious physical advantage that men have over their female team members and opponents.
The NHL is proud to support this past weekend’s Team Trans Draft Tournament in Middleton, Wisconsin. This was the first tournament comprised entirely of transgender and nonbinary players, with around 80 folks participating! #HockeyIsForEveryone #NHLPride pic.twitter.com/OfEoAVXtH5

One of the male-to-female athletes checked one of the female-to-male athletes on the ice, throwing her head-first into the boards.
“Get a stretcher! Get a medic!” players shouted as they surrounded the player. It reportedly took 17 minutes for the player, who suffered a concussion, to be placed on a stretcher and taken off the ice.
Biological men have been sweeping athletic competition in the female sports categories. Dozens of athletic competitions for females have tipped in favor of men competing as transgender women, according to an investigation by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
A June Washington Post poll found that a majority of Americans oppose allowing men to compete in women’s sports. Support for biological men playing as transgender women in women’s sports declines the higher the level of competition.
The Daily Caller has reached out to the NHL for comment and will update as necessary.
