Salt Bae has been banned from the U.S. Open Cup Final after he acted like a clown at the World Cup.

FIFA has opened an investigation into how the Turkish celebrity chef Nusret “Salt Bae” Goke was able to gain access to the pitch when Argentina’s players were celebrating their win with their families, according to Fox Sports. Footage of Salt Bae’s behavior went viral online, showing him trying to take the cup away from players in Qatar so he could pretend to sprinkle salt over the trophy.

The U.S. Open Cup has since promised that Salt Bae will not be able to do the same at the U.S. national championship, posting an update to their Twitter account Tuesday.

“Salt Bae is hereby banned from the 2023 [Open Cup] Final,” the organization told followers, gaining more than 150,000 likes and more than 7,700 retweets as of early Friday morning.

It wasn’t until I watched an episode of “Guga Foods,” hosted by Gustavo Tosta, about Salt Bae’s cooking method and absolutely astronomical pricing that I realized what a gimmick the whole “gold steak” thing really is. Apparently, that’s why most people go to his restaurant — to eat massively overpriced, rough cuts of steak. It’s no wonder Guga will never go back to eat at his restaurant. Salt Bae, the once-popular butcher, may be suffering from the type of ego that only comes with modest celebrity, given his recent behavior and seeming lack of apology. And like everyone who lets fame get to their heads, it looks like his popularity will be short-lived. Oh dear, what a pity, never mind.
