Damar Hamlin’s family has broken their silence following his cardiac event.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suddenly collapsed the field Jan. 2 in a Monday Night Football contest against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was later found out that he suffered cardiac arrest, which currently has him in the hospital in critical condition.

His family released a statement Jan. 3 expressing their “sincere gratitude” for the massive support that has been shown towards Hamlin, while also asking for prayers to keep rolling in. They also thanked the 150,000+ fans that have now donated over $4 million to his toy drive charity.

“On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country,” read the statement.

I wrote a blog not that long ago about Damar Hamlin’s charity GoFundMe, and at press time, donations were tallied at $3,637,590. Literally just a few hours later, and it’s now at $4,333,030. It’s just absolutely incredible what kind of support has rolled in for Hamlin.

On top of that, there was another recent piece that I wrote about how it’s been outright glorious to see everybody turn to the power of prayer with this whole situation. Tragedy struck at such a massive scale, and everybody turned to God — everybody turned to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior — it was beautiful. As someone who admits they view society and the world negatively for the most part, it restored some faith in how things are. The world isn’t against God as much as I thought.

Everybody’s response (for the most part) towards the Hamlin situation has been dope. Just so, so dope.
