Shannon Sharpe lost so many cool points, and Skip “Drip” Bayless shouldn’t have apologized.

Skip Bayless, who currently works with Fox Sports as a host of FS1’s “Undisputed,” issued an apology on Jan. 3 on the show after posting what some are considering to be a “controversial” tweet about Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who suddenly collapsed on the field on Jan. 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals due to cardiac arrest.

NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, who is a co-host with Bayless on “Undisputed,” didn’t show up for the episode.

Hamlin is still listed in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

My whole opinion about this situation lines up exactly with Barstool Sports’ KFC and Matt Walsh’s tweets.

As you see, I started out my piece saying “Shannon Sharpe lost so many cool points,” but the more I was thinking about it, I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if Sharpe and Bayless were playing us all behind the scenes for ratings, hype and glory.

I mean, think about it, it’s genius. Skip Bayless drops a controversial hot take like he always does, but instead, this one goes even more viral because of the circumstances. Skip and Shannon then decide that the latter should “take off” from the show to make it look like he completely abandoned Skip, leaving him dry, adding to the controversy and hype of the program — that was already being fueled by a Bayless “apology.” And not to mention that his tweet is still up collecting millions and millions (and millions) of views, and thousands and thousands of retweets. (RELATED: Damar Hamlin’s Family Releases Statement After Cardiac Arrest)

It’s actually quite brilliant.

Controversy sells, man. There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
