Ron Jeremy will reportedly be declared incompetent to stand trial for rape as a result of severe dementia.

Jeremy was indicted on more than 30 counts of sexual assault in August 2021, with accusations dating back to 1996, according to The Times. His alleged victims range in age from ages 15 to 51. Jeremy pleaded not guilty and has maintained his innocence.

Jeremy’s condition is said to be preventing him from being able to take the stand in his own defense after facing 30 counts of rape by 20 different women, according to People. “If he does not improve, we will not be able to try him for his crimes,” Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Paul Thompson said.

Thompson said mental health experts were engaged by both the prosecution and Jeremy’s legal team, and both confirmed they found no evidence that Jeremy was faking his medical condition, according to The Times.

“If he does not improve, we will not be able to try him for his crimes,” he continued. “Because criminal proceedings are suspended as long as he is incompetent, we also cannot get a guilty plea from him or discuss other measures to get justice for the victims in this case.”

“As a result of the agreement of the experts, the defendant will be declared incompetent to stand trial … his prognosis for improvement is not good,” Thompson said.

The former porn star is expected to be declared unfit for trial on January 17 and will likely be placed in a state-run hospital. If his condition happens to improve in the future, he may be declared fit for trial.(RELATED: REPORT: Woman Accuses Steven Tyler Of Sexually Assaulting Her As Minor, Forcing Her To Get Abortion)

Lianne Young, a former British adult film star and one of Jeremy’s accusers, said she was “kind of numb” after discovering he would not be able to be tried in court, according to The Times.

“It’s going to come down to public opinion now, and public opinion has looked at Ron like a god,” Young said. “It could be an indication to other predators or viewers of pornography that they can get away with such crimes.”
