Actress Michelle Yeoh celebrated her Golden Globe win with a long thank-you speech, and didn’t hesitate to tell producers to “shut up” when the music played to cue her to get off stage.

The actress won her first-ever Golden Globe award Tuesday, and she wasn’t going to let anyone rush her off the stage. She began her speech by saying, “I’m just gonna stand here and take this all in,” and then launched into a speech that reflected on her earlier days in Hollywood.

Yeoh showed gratitude for opportunities she has embraced during her career, but as she spoke, the music began to play to encourage her to move off stage. She pushed back against being rushed out of her moment. “Shut up, please!” she said. “I can beat you up, ok, and that’s serious!” said Yeoh.

“When I first came to Hollywood, it was a dream come true — until I got here. I came here and was told, ‘You’re a minority,” Yeoh said.

“Thank you A24 for believing in these two goofy, insanely smart, wonderful geniuses, [directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert], who had the courage to write about a very ordinary immigrant, aging woman, mother, daughter,” she said.

Yeoh said she felt lucky to have shared experiences with some of the biggest directors in Hollywood, including Steven Spielberg, Rob Marshall and James Cameron(RELATED: Eddie Murphy Dragged Will Smith’s Oscars Slap Right Into The Golden Globes)

She concluded her speech by shouting out to those who came before her, as well as future generations of actors from different minority groups.

“This is also for all the shoulders that I stand on, all who came before me, who look like me, and all who are going on this journey with me forward,” Yeoh said.
