‘What Were You Thinking?’: Doocy Presses Biden On Classified Documents Sitting In Garage

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy on Thursday pressed President Joe Biden about the second batch of classified documents found in his garage.

Biden’s lawyers discovered more classified documents from the Obama-Biden administration in the garage of Biden’s Delaware home, his special counsel Richard Sauber announced Wednesday. The files were found days after the president’s attorneys discovered a first batch of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center, Biden’s think tank in Washington, D.C.

“Mr. President, classified material next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?” Doocy asked.

“As I said earlier this week — and by the way, my Corvette’s in a locked garage, okay? So it’s not like they’re sitting out on the street,” the president said.

“Was it in a locked garage?” Doocy asked.

“Yes, as well as my Corvette,” Biden said. “But as I said earlier this week, people know I take classified documents and classified material seriously. I also said we’re cooperating fully and completely with the Justice Department’s review. As part of that process, my lawyers reviewed other places where documents of mine, from my time as vice president, were stored, and they finished the review last night. They discovered a small number of documents with classified markings in storage areas, in file cabinets in my home and my personal library.”

The president repeated that his attorneys immediately notified the Department of Justice once the documents were discovered and then transferred the files to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). He told reporters Tuesday he was “surprised” to learn documents with classification markings had been discovered in a private area. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre echoed the same defense of the documents’ discovery, saying Wednesday the president and his legal counsel are fully cooperating with the Justice Department and that Biden takes material of this nature “very seriously.”

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel Thursday to investigate whether the president mishandled the classified documents.
