A pro-Israel think tank filed a federal complaint with the International Revenue Service (IRS) Tuesday accusing a left-wing charity of fundraising for a group linked to terrorism, according to the Washington Examiner.

Alliance for Global Justice (AFGJ), an organization aiming to “achieve social change and economic justice,” lists the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network (SPPSN), an Israeli-designated terrorist group since 2021, as one of its sponsored organizations, according to the Jerusalem Post. Zachor Legal Institute (ZLI), “a legal think tank and advocacy organization” that fights anti-Israel campaigns in the U.S., filed a complaint calling for the IRS to investigate the AFGJ for allegedly fundraising for terrorism. Samidoun solicits funding for Collectif Palestine Vaincra (CPV), a French organization that has ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which was designated a terrorist group by the U.S. in 1997, according to the Examiner. CPV and PFLP also reportedly fundraised for an “indoctrination” camp for children in Gaza.

SPPSN was banned from using major credit card companies in 2020 after ties to terrorism were revealed, according to the Examiner.

“Foreign terrorism is big business,” Marc Greendorfer, an attorney who runs Zachor, told the Examiner. “Groups like Alliance for Global Justice provide terror groups with the funding that is critical to their operations and the fact that they do so with U.S. taxpayer subsidies, as 501(c)(3) organizations, makes their work even more of a threat to the United States.”

The complaint argues that these connections with CPV and SPPSN are grounds to remove AFGJ’s nonprofit status, according to the Examiner.

“It is clear that Samidoun and CPV are each an alter ego of the designated terror organization PFLP and AFGJ’s activities in support of PFLP violate 501(c)(3) rules on unlawful activity, including violations of 18 USC 2339B, for providing material support to a U.S. designated foreign terror organization,” ZLI stated.

The IRS told the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) that “the federal tax law prevents IRS employees from disclosing tax return information.”

ZLI, AFGJ and the CPV did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
