What the hell was this?

The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers squared off in the NFL Divisional Playoffs on Jan. 22. The Cowboys got eliminated from the postseason after a 19-12 loss, but it didn’t have to be that way. The Cowboys took themselves out with what must be considered one of the most boneheaded moves in the entire history of sports.

With only six seconds left in the contest, Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott put himself at the center position with no other offensive linemen around him. Quarterback Dak Prescott was next to Malik Davis in the shotgun formation. All of the other offensive linemen and wide receivers were set up out wide.

Then, as everybody and their mother were confused at what was going on, the Cowboys hiked the ball. Elliott got steamrolled, forcing Prescott to make a quick play to get rid of the ball. Prescott landed a toss to KeVontae Turpin, but Turpin then got slammed to the ground. In the process, the clock expired and the game ended.

The Dallas Cowboys are now eliminated from the NFL Playoffs — and in boneheaded fashion.

I remember what I first thought when I saw this play. (RELATED: NFL Announces Teams (And Locations) That Will Be Featured In 2023 International Games)

In fact, I can show you:

It was such a boneheaded play that it’s so Dallas Cowboys fashion. This is what they’ve become — have great seasons just to choke in the playoffs, and here we go again. And I’m saying this as somebody who isn’t a hater of Dallas like most in America, I think their brand swags out, but damn, they can’t win to save their life when they get to the playoffs.

This whole scenario was so Dallas Cowboys — ending your season off of a boneheaded play.
