John Pearce, a newcomer on the Australian children’s show, “The Wiggles,” responded Tuesday to his unexpected status as a “sex symbol” among mothers and older viewers of the program.

“The Wiggles” show has a worldwide fanbase consisting primarily of its target demographic, toddlers and preschoolers — but some of the moms out there are now paying closer attention to the Purple Wiggle. Pearce reportedly generated a slew of new viewers on the group’s TikTok page after making an impact as the eye candy fans can’t seem to resist. He recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight (ET) about the interest he has generated in his short time on the children’s show.

Moms are reportedly thirsting after Pearce, tuning in to catch a glimpse of the “Australia’s Got Talent” winner on his new platform. Pearce admitted to being caught off guard by all the unexpected attention.

“I’m just making fun, quirky content that I enjoy and the people around me enjoy, and just keeping it Wiggly, keeping it myself,” Pearce told ET.

Pearce said “The Wiggles” cast posted some videos to TikTok in October, and the content, meant to entertain children, began picking up traction with adults.

“I never try to read the comments … But you couldn’t avoid this one,” Pearce told the outlet. “I was getting messages from friends and family. I was getting articles sent to me, left right and center. [But] it’s all been positive and it’s just about bringing happiness to people around the world.” (RELATED: Fans Can Now Stay In ‘Friends’- And ‘Seinfeld’-Themed Airbnbs)

“And obviously it’s entertained a lot more than what we expected,” he told ET.

“If we’re entertaining the whole family, then whatever that is, it will be. I think it’s all positive at the end of the day, and it’s just the first introduction,” Pearce concluded, according to the outlet.
