An alleged stalker approached a mother of seven while she was on the phone with her sister before shooting and killing her in Hanover Park, Illinois, ABC7 Chicago reports.

Clarice Alexander, 41, dropped her son off at school Monday morning and took a phone call with her sister, Chianni Hopkins, ABC7 reported. Hopkins said Alexander had made multiple reports to the police about the alleged stalker who reportedly shot and killed her.

“She still had to call the police on him that night. He killed her that next morning,” Hopkins told ABC7.

While on the phone, Alexander told Hopkins she saw the man who had allegedly been stalking her, according to the outlet. Hopkins said her sister had fear in her voice. (RELATED: Uber Driver Shoots Would-Be Stalker – Sheriff Backs Him Up: ‘Justifiable Homicide All Day Long)

“She said, ‘Why he just rush me?’ And, she said, ‘Oh my God, this is him. Call you back,'” Hopkins told the outlet.

Alexander hung up the phone with Hopkins at 8:27 a.m. but she never called back, according to ABC7. “She was gone within that five minutes,” Hopkins told the outlet.

Police responded to a call from neighbors at 8:32 a.m. who reportedly heard several gunshots. Hopkins’ body was found in an alley between a subdivision and townhomes in west suburban Hanover Park, the outlet reported. She sustained a bullet wound to the head, ABC7 reported in a separate article.

One neighbor with surveillance camera footage of the reported shooting said the alleged gunman drove away in an older gray Chevy Malibu with significant damage to the front end. Hanover Park police told the neighbor not to release the footage publicly, according to ABC7.

“At 8:30 in the morning, that’s when all the little grade school kids are going down that alley, so at least it wasn’t a little kid that got shot,” another neighbor, Henry Aarosinski, told the outlet.

Nearby schools went into soft lockdowns following the shooting as officers continued to search for the alleged gunman, according to the outlet. The suspect has not been found at the time of writing.

“I’m sorry you got failed by all of us because we all knew something was off. We just didn’t think it would end like this,” Hopkins said, according to ABC7. “She had babies. She has a one-year-old grandson. She was just starting to enjoy – honestly, I can’t put it in words.”
