Disgraced former lawyer Alex Murdaugh gave dramatic testimony Thursday in defense of himself in the murders of his wife and son, during which a giant booger dropped out of his nose onto his chin.

The footage shows an emotional Murdaugh sitting at the bench while giving his testimony.

“If you asked me, exactly, I think I touched her down around her waist but I don’t know,” Murdaugh testified before inhaling deeply. On his exhale, however, a massive booger begins to drip down his nose before hitting his chin and plopping onto his lap.

Murdaugh has denied allegations that he murdered his wife and son in 2021. Defense lawyers pressed the former attorney about a significant piece of evidence: a video recording from his deceased son that placed Murdaugh at the scene of the crime just minutes before the murders occurred, according to NBC News. “Mr. Murdaugh, is that you on the kennel video at 8:44 p.m. on June 7, the night Maggie and Paul were murdered?” defense attorney Jim Griffin asked, according to CNN. Murdaugh acknowledged it was his voice and apologized for having previously told police he was not present.

Murdaugh told investigators he discovered the bodies of his wife, 55-year-old Maggie, and son, 22-year-old Paul, near dog kennels on their property after he went to visit his mother, CNN reported. Several months later, Murdaugh allegedly attempted to stage his own murder, NBC News reported.

Murdaugh was formally indicted for the double murders in July of 2022, the outlet reported.
