Famous actor Ray Buffer has reportedly been charged with one count of misdemeanor petty theft in connection with a comic book theft dating back to October 2022.

Surveillance video appears to show Buffer making his way through a comic book store and helping himself to books by shoving them inside his shirt, according to footage obtained by TMZ. Southern California Comics alleged Buffer attempted to rob them of $600 worth of comic books, the outlet reported Thursday. The actor pleaded not guilty to the accusations during his arraignment in January.

Buffer is scheduled for a court hearing sometime around the first days of March, TMZ reported, citing a representative for the San Diego City Attorney.

The surveillance footage showing the alleged theft is currently in the hands of the police, according to TMZ.

Another L.A. County comic shop also came forward with similar footage of the actor allegedly attempting to steal comics in the same manner, by shoving them inside his shirt, the outlet reported. Buffer’s attorney attempted to curb the legal progression of the case by offering restitution to the store owner of Southern California Comics, TMZ reported. The actor’s lawyer also allegedly promised the owners Buffer would enter into a diversion program, but the owners ostensibly refused to accept the deal and are now pursuing litigation.

Buffer is a seasoned actor with over 100 acting credits to his name, including “Bullet Train,” “Contact” and “Into the Wild Frontier.”
