Two individuals cruising in the iconic car from the ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ were injured after the vehicle was totaled in a single-car crash on Sunday in Missouri.

At around 1:30 p.m., local Missouri first responders were called to a crash site on highway 165 and discovered the vehicle involved was the infamous Dodge Charger used in the 1980’s comedy action series, the Taney County Fire Department shared in a Facebook post.

The driver and passenger were evaluated on-scene and transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment, reported the Springfield News-Leader. (RELATED: Woman Totally Loses Her Mind Over Confederate Flag-Adorned Dukes of Hazzard Car)

Hollister Police Chief Preston Schmidt told the Springfield News-Leader that the on-site investigation determined the vehicle was going too fast and could not handle road conditions. Furthermore, the occupants allegedly sustained minor injuries in the crash.

“The driver of the vehicle was traveling too fast for the road conditions and lost control of the vehicle he was operating,” Schmidt said.

In the images shared by the fire department, you can see the extent of the damage to the vintage vehicle: the hood appears to be almost torn off, and the grille is detached along with pieces of the front bumper dangling from the automobile. The side panel is severely caved in to the point where most of the driver’s side tire is exposed and part of the underbelly visible.

Other than the images shared by authorities, there are no reports indicating whether the vehicle sustained further damage.

The vintage vehicle was dubbed the ‘General Lee’ because of the Confederate battle flag displayed on the roof. There were reportedly 309 ‘General Lee’ cars made for the television series and an additional 26 created for the 2005 remake, but only 19 of the original vehicles survived after the 1980’s series ended.

Warner Brothers sold 17 of the original ‘General Lee’ cars in 1991, according to the Springfield-News Leader.
