Former NFL running back Zac Stacy received a six-month prison sentence Monday for the brutal 2021 beating of his ex-girlfriend.

Stacy was sentenced by an Orange County judge after he pleaded guilty to attacking his ex-girlfriend in her home in 2021, WESH reported. He pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal mischief earlier in February and his battery charges were dropped due to his plea agreement.

The woman in question is the mother of Stacy’s child, who he claims somehow staged the video because he didn’t want to be in a long-term relationship with her. Personally, I think it’s pretty damn hard to stage what Stacy did to this woman.

Stacy “struck [her] on the right side of her head, and picked her up and threw her against the television, causing it to crack and fall over,” a police affidavit reported, according to the New York Post. Footage of Stacy’s attack circulated online, showing him grabbing the woman from her couch, where she’s cowering in fear, and hurling her across the room.

She remains on the floor, her hands up as if she’s in shock. Her total surrender to his violence didn’t stop him from continuing to attack her in front of their child.

Why this monster has only received a six-month prison sentence and a year of probation for what is comfortable behavior for him in this video is beyond me. There are multiple videos from the ongoing attack and it’s amazing to me that this poor woman survived. To put in perspective: you currently live in a country where a couple found guilty of tax evasion are receiving significantly higher prison sentences than a man who appeared to not care if he murdered the mother of his child in front of the child. Apparently this is what lawmakers in this country have decided is appropriate and it makes me physically sick.

Stacy briefly played for the then-St. Louis Rams and the New York Jets from 2013 to 2015.
