A witness in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, shared video footage of a number of vehicles stunt driving in Broward County at roughly 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

The stunt drivers apparently had no regard for the police that eventually arrived on-scene to shut the event down, the clip shows. Self-proclaimed car enthusiast John Annunziata told Local 10 News he lives in an apartment in the area and watched the scene unfold from his balcony overlooking the intersection of U.S. 1 and Broward Boulevard.

The video shows the vehicles spinning in circles and creating tire marks on the public road. The exhausts’ roar indicated the cars were likely outfitted with performance parts, and suggested the crowd gathered to see the display of raw horsepower and the display of risky stunt moves.

“You could just see muscle cars doing donuts in the middle of the intersection,” Annunziata told the outlet. (RELATED: Shooting After Illegal Drag Race Leaves 3 Dead, 2 Others Injured)

The intersection was blocked off for roughly six minutes and the car stunting continued well after the police arrived to investigate, according to Local10. Police cars can be seen entering the racing circle in the middle of the street as the racers and drifters continue their spins.

Intersection takeovers such as the one seen in the video have become increasingly popular and often feature on social media. They act as a way for car enthusiasts to gather and show off the power of their vehicles, according to Local10.

“It was kind of like a joke. You know these guys just continued doing it,” Annunziata told the outlet.

“It happens in Miami. It happens down here in Lauderdale quite often, and really it is I guess just for show,” he added.
