The New Orleans Saints and former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr have reached an agreement.

The four-time Pro Bowler signed a four-year contract with the Saints on Monday, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

The long-time quarterback, who played for the Raiders in Oakland and Las Vegas, was released by the team in February after posting an underwhelming 6-11 record during the 2022-2023 NFL season.

Despite the Raiders finishing the year near the bottom of their division, Carr played well and threw the football for more than 3,500 yards and 24 touchdowns.

With Tom Brady retired for good from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFC South appears very winnable. (Packers’ David Bakhtiari Defends Teammate Aaron Rodgers By Slamming Jimmy Kimmel As ‘Being On The Epstein Client List’)

There are a lot of good players on the Saints offense for Carr to work with. Despite the New Orleans starting three different quarterbacks in 2022, rookie wide-out Chris Olave surpassed 1,000 total receiving yards. They also have a five-time Pro Bowl running back in Alvin Kamara in their back field (assuming that he’s not suspended), and are supposed to get All-Pro wide receiver, Michael Thomas, back from injured reserve due to an injured toe.

If Carr can throw the football with accuracy and be the lead voice in the Saints huddles, I believe New Orleans will make it back to the playoffs again. Carr seems like the best quarterback they’ve had since Drew Brees.
