Former staffers of Democratic Presidential candidate and author Marianne Williamson said working for her was “traumatic” during her 2020 campaign, according to Politico.

Williamson – who has numerous books on love and healing – would yell at her team until they cried, Politico reported after interviewing 12 previous staffers. The staffers recalled Williamson as being cruel with unpredictable outbursts of anger who would scream so loud that hotel employees checked on the room several times.

“It would be foaming, spitting, uncontrollable rage,” a former staffer told Politico. “It was traumatic. And the experience, in the end, was terrifying.”

Three staffers remember Williamson throwing her cell phone at members of her team, and another outburst resulted in her repeatedly hitting a car door hard enough that she had to go to urgent care. Other aides said she obsessed over the appearance of her staff and would criticize some for being overweight.

Her behavior was very unpredictable, the staffers said. She lashed out when a hotel room was booked that had a shower instead of a bath tub.

“This was day after day after day. It wasn’t that she was having a bad day or moment. It was just boom, boom, boom — and often for no legitimate reason,” a staffer told Politico.

Williamson’s 2020 New Hampshire state chair, former Democratic Rep. Paul Hodes, told Politico that he had similar experiences with the candidate.

“Those reports of Ms. Williamson’s behavior are consistent with my observations, consistent with contemporaneous discussions I had about her conduct with staff members, and entirely consistent with my own personal experience with her behavior on multiple occasions,” Hodes told Politico.

Williamson required her employees sign a strict nondisclosure agreement to ensure they wouldn’t tell reporters how she ran her campaign, Politico reported.

“The message was: ‘dont fuck with me because I will make your life a living hell.’ So no one fucked with her,” a former staffers told Politico.

Williamson responded to the allegations via email where she told Politico the accusations were “slanderous” and “categorically untrue.” She denied many of these accusations, including throwing her phone at her former team members and mocking staffers for being overweight.

She admitted to going to urgent care for the hand injury and that hotel staff checked on her after  her outbursts, but she defended herself by saying she didn’t physically hurt anyone and that raising one’s voice is typical of politicians.

Williamson ultimately dropped out of the 2020 Democratic primaries, and immediately threw her support behind Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. She formally announced her second run for president on March 4.

“It is our job to create a vision of justice and love that is so powerful that it will override the forces of hatred and injustice and fear,” Williamson said in her announcement speech.

Williamson’s campaign did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
