Famous composer Andrew Lloyd Webber revealed his 43-year-old son Nicholas is critically ill with stomach cancer in a statement released March 19.

“As my friends and family know, he has been fighting gastric cancer for the last 18 months and Nick is now hospitalized,” Webber said, according to People. “We are all praying that Nick will turn the corner,” Webber continued. “He is bravely fighting with his indomitable humor, but at the moment my place is with him and the family.”

Weber expressed the serious nature of his son’s condition and addressed his inability to focus on his career during this time.

“I, therefore, have not been able to attend the recent previews of Bad Cinderella and as things stand, I will not be able to cheer on its wonderful cast, crew and orchestra on opening night this Thursday,” Webber said in a statement obtained by People.

Nicholas followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Grammy-nominated composer. He scored BBC One series “Love, Lies and Records” and the film “The Last Bus” as well as the short “Mr. Invisible.”

Nicholas’ Grammy nomination came from his work scoring Webber’s Cinderella’s original cast album in 2021, according to People. (RELATED: ‘I’ll Fight With All I Have Got’: Tennis Great Reportedly Diagnosed With Breast, Throat Cancer)
