The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) will spend $200,000 in support of Wisconsin state Supreme Court candidate Dan Kelly through its Judicial Fairness Initiative.

Kelly, who served on the Wisconsin Supreme Court from 2016-2020, is running against Democratic Milwaukee County Judge Janet Protasiewicz in a race that will decide control of the body. Outside groups are expected to spend more than $30 million on the election, WisPolitics reported, as the Court may weigh in on an abortion ban and a gerrymandered legislature.

The RSLC ad highlights outside spending from left-wing organizations supporting Protasiewicz. The pro-gun control organization Everytown for Gun Safety is spending $500,000 in support of Protasiewicz, who is also endorsed by the pro-abortion group EMILY’s List. “What makes Wisconsin great? We’re independent thinkers, we don’t let the DC outsiders tell us how to live. When the liberal elite try to set aside our rule of law we stand in their way. Don’t California our Wisconsin, vote Dan Kelly for Wisconsin Supreme Court,” the ad’s narrator says.

“The last thing the people of Wisconsin need is liberal outsiders telling them how to live their lives, at a time where the Badger State needs strong representation on the state supreme court to uphold the rule of law,” RSLC JFI President Dee Duncan said in a statement. “As radical liberal activists like Eric Holder and their billionaire donors have their sights set on using this seat to redraw congressional and legislative maps from the bench, the RSLC’s Judicial Fairness Initiative will continue to invest the necessary resources needed to help Dan Kelly get across the finish line next month.”
