Republican Reps. Virginia Foxx of North Carolina and Mary Miller of Illinois sent a letter Thursday to the Department of Education, calling it out for failing to respond to previous questions about sexual assaults, the department’s interpretation of Title IX and more.

The Daily Caller first obtained the letter, which expresses concerns about the department’s “misguided interpretation of Title IX, two sexual assaults in Loudoun County Public Schools (‘LCPS’), government officials’ targeting of concerned parents, and LCPS’ apparent noncompliance with Title IX.”

Foxx and Miller sent the original letter on Oct 18, 2021. In it, the lawmakers wrote that “a 14-year-old biological boy wearing a skirt entered a girls’ bathroom at Stone Bridge High School in LCPS on May 28, 2021, and sexually assaulted a ninth-grade girl. Then on Oct. 6, 2021, the boy sexually assaulted a second girl at Broad Run High School, the LCPS’ school to which he was transferred after the May 28, 2021, assault.”

The department did not respond until July 15, 2022, nearly nine months later. In Thursday’s letter, Foxx and Miller claim that this lack of response is unacceptable and shows the dangers of the agency’s “ill-advised interpretation of Title IX.”

“When the safety of a student is threatened or violated at school, parents should be told as soon as possible. Yet when two female students—at two separate schools—were sexually assaulted by a male classmate, school administrators neglected to take appropriate action and fell short of their Title IX responsibilities,” Foxx told the Caller before sending the letter.

“The Department’s response to our inquiries on these incidents has been wildly insufficient and more than nine months late. The Department’s politically skewed interpretation of Title IX is putting students in danger and its apparent disinterest in our concerns is totally unacceptable,” she added. (DAILY CALLER OBTAINED) — … by Henry Rodgers

“On his first day in office, President Biden signed an Executive Order to destroy Title IX and force young girls to share locker rooms with 18-year-old men. The Biden Administration is bypassing Congress to erase women and appease the most radical fringe of their political base. I am proud to join Chairwoman Foxx in holding Biden’s Department of Education accountable for putting our daughters at risk,” Miller told the Caller. The Department of Education did not immediately respond to the Caller’s inquiry about the letter.
