Lorna Roxanne Green of Casper, Wyoming, has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to a house that was set to become an abortion clinic in May 2022, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Wyoming.

The clinic will be the state’s only abortion clinic, after a Teton County District Court temporarily halted a ban on abortion in all stages of pregnancy except in cases of rape, incest or danger to the life of the mother.

Green allegedly started the fire at Wellspring Health Access Clinic, which was set to open in June 2022. The clinic offers abortions and as well as sex-change hormones, according to its website. Green was set to make her first appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Kelly H. Rankin on Thursday. Police identified her through video surveillance that allegedly showed Green breaking a window and pouring gas into the building in June.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Casper Police Department offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information about the arson in June.

“This case demonstrates how valuable tips are from the community,” said United States Attorney Nicholas Vassallo. “Every tip received was shared with and evaluated by cooperating law enforcement partners from the Casper Police Department, FBI, and ATF. Several tips from the public and the hard work of the investigators were instrumental in identifying and arresting Lorna Green.”

Green faces up to 2o years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
