A zebra roamed the streets of Seoul, the South Korean capital, after it escaped from a local zoo Thursday afternoon, according to the BBC.

The zebra, a young male named Sero, escaped from the Seoul Children’s Grand Park Zoo where he was born in 2021, BBC reported.

Seoul’s Gwangjin Fire Station said the zebra escaped his enclosure after managing to break a surrounding wood fence, the outlet reported.

Multiple videos then captured the zebra running loose, crossing busy streets and wandering through residential areas in eastern Seoul, according to the BBC.

Eventually, the zebra was cornered by officials in a restricted alleyway with the assistance of a safety fence. He was tranquilized before being transported back to the zoo, according to the BBC. (RELATED: Police Shoot, Kill Aggressive Zebra After It Nearly Bit Man’s Arm Off)

Choi Ye-ra, a zoo official, said the zebra underwent an examination by veterinarians after it returned and was assessed as being in a stable condition. An investigation into his escape is currently underway, The Associated Press (AP) reported.

The zebra is not believed to have damaged property or caused any injuries during his flight, the outlet reported.
