The CMT Music Awards snubbed the heck out of Morgan Wallen on Sunday after more than a year of him breaking record after record for the genre.

The CMT Awards are, admittedly, pretty small fish as far as awards ceremonies go. As the purpose of the show is to honor the most successful members of the country music industry, the fact that Wallen hasn’t been invited to take part in anything CMT-related relegated his opportunity for a majority of the potential nominations.

Wallen was only nominated for two awards in 2023: “Video of the Year” and “Male Video of the Year,” Billboard reported. Firstly, what is a male?

I’m totally kidding. But how ridiculous is it that the top-selling country music artist in history is still so slighted by his industry. Years have gone by and apologies have poured out since Wallen was caught using a racial slur during a private conversation with friends.

Immediately after the incident, the media establishment set about canceling him and his career, and failed absolutely miserably. Wallen is currently one of the top-selling and highest-ranked musicians of any genre, not just country.

For all the work Wallen has done to learn from and correct his mistake, as well as filling the world with some of the best music recorded in human history, evidently none of it was good enough for whatever small-minded individuals are behind the CMT Music Awards.

The entire situation makes me question what the point of these media oligarchs even is? Hatred of Wallen’s success in his post-cancelation era seems to be a norm for the people who run our pretty-much state-controlled corporate media. My guess is this hate comes from a lack of control over both Wallen’s astronomical success and talent, and how much We The People love him. And to be honest, I’m absolutely fine with that. I hope these entities continue to hate all of us who grow our success without their support, because what do they actually do for us?
