A woman who was allegedly armed with a stolen gun plunged from a 7-floor Miami building amid a Monday night standoff with police.

Police officers originally responded to a theft in the Edgewater neighborhood of Miami. They allegedly found a woman standing atop the seventh floor of a luxury building holding a gun, according to WSVN.

Officers moved to establish a small, secured perimeter around the location between 29th Terrace and 31st Street on Northeast Seventh Avenue as they attempted to de-escalate the situation, the outlet reported.

The woman eventually jumped, plunging seven floors before Miami Fire Rescue transported her in critical condition to the Ryder Trauma Center of Jackson Memorial Hospital. Police said she passed away Tuesday morning, according to the Miami Herald.

One witness said “we heard a big gun blast,” adding the situation “spooked everyone for a second, and everyone went back to their business, but then there was a second one,” according to WSVN. (RELATED: Man Executed On Miami Street In Shocking Video Footage)

The witness continued, saying the commotion was followed by “some police cars driving around and scoping out the area with a spotlight” before “one police officer gets out of the car with his automatic weapon drawn and, so now it got real,” the outlet reported.

Miami Police said they believe the woman possessed a stolen gun and confirmed no gunshots were fired by officers during incident, WSVN reported.
