A video shared on Instagram in early April presented a theory that could predict the entire plot of the “Barbie” movie, one of this year’s most anticipated films.

An analysis shared by Instagram user Cat Quinn broke down the the “Barbie” trailer and concluded that the plot will follow that of “The Wizard of Oz.” Quinn first notes the similarities between Barbie’s (played by superstar Margot Robbie) styling and that of Dorothy in the iconic 1939 movie.

As the trailer continues, Barbie drives past three movie posters. All of them are for the “Wizard of Oz.” The 1990s pop culture phenomenon then takes a spin with Ken (Ryan Gosling) down a pink-brick road.

The similarities don’t stop there. Quinn managed to pick up a load of Easter Eggs within the trailer that suggests the plot for Barbie will follow that of “The Wizard of Oz.”

So, we’re going to watch as Barbie leaves Barbie Land and enters the Real World (where we live). She’ll likely be disgusted, horrified, haunted and traumatized by what she finds, and will click her fluffy pink slippers three times and head on back home, as Quinn so perfectly summarized.

The live-action “Barbie” movie has been in development for what feels like forever. Way back in 2017, actress Amy Schumer was attached to play the title role, but dropped out due to “scheduling conflicts.” The role then went to real-life Barbie-beauty Robbie. Though she first assumed the film would never be made, due to its satirical nature, it’ll be hitting the silver screens in July. Even if this isn’t the exact plot, Quinn’s commentary is enough to convince me that I simply must see the “Barbie” movie as soon as humanly possible. What an incredible concept for one of the year’s most anticipated movies! Let’s just hope it doesn’t go super woke and literally destroy millennial childhoods forever.
