CNN pushed back against Don Lemon on Monday after he publicly claimed he was abruptly let go from the network without warning.

Lemon took to Twitter shortly after he hosted “CNN This Morning” to announce he was informed by his agent he was terminated, saying no one in management had the “decency” to personally tell him. CNN pushed back against his claims.

“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate,” CNN Communications tweeted. “He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

Lemon said he was “stunned” by his termination. (RELATED: Fox Announces What Will Happen To Tucker’s Slot)

“After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” Lemon tweeted. “At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play. With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”

Lemon’s firing came just minutes after Fox News announced it was parting ways with Tucker Carlson. Fox News provided no additional details about the split.
