An elementary school teacher from Georgia was arrested Friday on multiple charges of child pornography and sexual exploitation of children.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that James Andrew “Crew” Cecil, 38, was investigated and arrested following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to 11Alive. The tip was sent on April 14, and Cecil was immediately removed from his classroom pending the investigation.

The sheriff’s office said its Internet Crimes Against Children Unit started their investigation as soon as they received the tip, Fox 5 reported.

He was subsequently arrested on warrants related to possession of child pornography and one warrant related to the sexual exploitation of children, the outlet continued. None of the children in Cecil’s school district, Forsyth County School District, were involved in their investigation. It’s unclear whether any children Cecil came into contact with throughout the rest of his teaching career were involved.

Cecil has worked as an elementary school teacher for at least 14 years, 11Alive noted. He’s worked in Forsyth County for seven years. He’s taught fourth grade at Poole’s Mill Elementary since 2021, and previously taught and coached the volleyball team at North Forsyth High School. He is currently being held on $55,000 bond at Forsyth County Jail. His former employer said the district will continue to work with local law enforcement, and any parents or guardians with information related to the charges should come forward.
