A judge sentenced Democratic House Minority Whip Katherine Clark’s transgender child Riley Dowell to probation Wednesday over Dowell allegedly assaulting a police officer and vandalizing a monument during a January anti-police protest, the Boston Globe reported.

Dowell, who birth name is Jared, was arrested in Boston on Jan. 21 after being seen spray-painting the city’s Parkman Bandstand Monument with the slogans “NO COP CITY” and “ACAB,” but one officer was hit in the face and bled as protestors interfered with the arrest, the Boston Police Department said.

Boston Municipal Court Judge Steven Key ordered Dowell Wednesday to write an apology letter to the officer, which Dowell has already done, and perform 30 hours of community service and compensate the city for the graffiti clean-up within a year to have the case dismissed, according to the Globe. The judge told Dowell to stay in therapy, avoid the Boston Common park where the incident occurred and finish a community-based program, the outlet reported. Clark had said following Dowell’s arrest that she was “confident” in the legal process, calling the situation “a very difficult time in the cycle of joy and pain in parenting.”

Clark’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
