The U continues to prosper in the NIL era.

The Miami Hurricanes men’s college basketball program pulled off a big move over the weekend, landing former five-star high school recruit Matthew Cleveland in the transfer portal — and he also happened to be the best player on Miami‘s rival Florida State Seminoles.

Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald reported the news in a tweet Sunday.

“We are excited to welcome Matthew and his family to the Hurricane basketball program. He is an accomplished, experienced, versatile individual who has already proven he can excel at a high level in the ACC,” said Hurricanes head coach Jim Larrañaga in a release. “Matthew not only possesses the talent, athleticism and basketball IQ we look for in a player, but his style of play fits our program extremely well.

“He is committed to winning and we feel he can make a major impact to help us do just that.”

Back in April, Cleveland announced that he was entering the transfer portal.

“Thank you Florida State for the past two years and all the memories that I have made,” wrote the sophomore guard. “Thank you to the whole coaching staff for making me who I am today not only as a player but as a man.

“With that being said I will be entering the transfer portal.” (RELATED: Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Commits Outright Sin By Wearing Philadelphia 76ers Jersey)

In the 2022-23 campaign, Cleveland led the Noles in scoring with a tally of 13.8 points-per-game, and was listed second in rebounds with a 7.4 average.
