Republican presidential candidates tore into House Oversight’s allegations that the Biden family attempted to conceal more than $10 million in payments from foreign nationals through a network of privately-held companies.

House Oversight and Government Accountability Committee chairman James Comer delivered a press conference Wednesday alleging the Biden family had a “pattern of influence-peddling” with a Romanian national while Joe Biden was vice president.

In total, “the bank records show the Biden family, their associates, and their companies received over $10 million from foreign nationals and their companies,” Comer said. (RELATED: Biden Family Attempted To Hide More Than $10 Million In Foreign Payments, Republicans Allege)

“If true, the allegations about the Biden family’s financial ties to China and other countries raise serious questions about corruption and why the Department of Justice never acted on this information,” former Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley said in a statement.

“Joe Biden must be transparent with the American people about what he knew, when he knew it, and every penny his family received from foreign countries,” she added.

Biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy called out Hunter Biden specifically, arguing there is a legal double standard in the case.

“The standard under the law should be the same standard applied to anyone whose last name isn’t ‘Biden.’ Much of what we see from Hunter, if this was anyone else they would be in jail right now. This is one more example of a pattern of criminal behavior,” Ramaswamy told the Daily Caller.

Former California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder tweeted about the allegations using the hashtag “BidenCrimeFamily.”

Former President Donald Trump’s team did not immediately respond to an inquiry from the Daily Caller.

The White House denied Comer’s allegations before his press conference went live, saying they were “baseless facts.”

“House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is loudly and proudly broadcasting a press conference today to continue his long pattern of making absurd claims that President Biden has made governing decisions not in the interest of America, but of the Chinese Communist Party, using baseless claims, personal attacks, and innuendo to try to score political points,” spokesperson Ian Sams said, Fox News reported.

“Instead of floating evidence-free innuendo, and making absurd attacks on the President and his family to try to score political points, Chairman Comer and House Oversight Republicans should answer the question: Why have you repeatedly sided with PRC interests over American workers and the American economy, instead of joining President Biden to put in place a strong agenda to create more American jobs and make us more competitive with China?” Sams added.
