Star of “Back to the Future” Michael J. Fox says he would be fine if Hollywood rebooted the franchise without his involvement, Variety reported Monday.

Fox made the statement to Variety as part of a cover story regarding his new documentary film “Still.” He told the outlet that he’s not fanatical. “Do what you want. It’s your movie. I got paid already.” He also didn’t seem to think that rebooting the franchise was a good idea anyway.

“I don’t think it needs to be,” Fox continued. “I think Bob [Robert Zemeckis] and Bob [Gale] have been really smart about that. I don’t think it needs rebooting because are you going to clarify something? You’re going to find a better way to tell the story? I doubt it.”

Fox says he was never approached about making a fourth installment of the hit franchise, despite all three of his movies doing absurdly well in the box office. The actor was in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease at the time, “so [he didn’t] know that [he] would have wanted to take [“Back to the Future IV”] on.”

But Fox’s co-star, Christopher Lloyd, has other feelings.

“I would love to do a sequel, but I think Bob Zemeckis and [producer Steven] Spielberg felt that they told the story in the three episodes,” Lloyd stated. “But if somebody has a brilliant idea that would justify a fourth film it might happen.” (RELATED: ‘From’ Is The Greatest Show That No One Is Talking About. Personally, I hope there isn’t a reboot. We got everything we needed from the first three films, and it’s about time that Hollywood came up with something more original. Maybe they should call Taylor Sheridan and see if he has any ideas?
