After recently defending Ja, I gotta knock him a little bit here.

Memphis Grizzlies superstar point guard Ja Morant has finally spoken out after being rocked with a second gun scandal following a video going viral over the weekend that showed Morant waving one.

The two-time NBA All-Star released a statement Tuesday night, saying that he takes responsibility for what happened, strives to be a better person, and understands why some people may not be able to trust him now after a second firearm controversy.

“I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself,” said Morant.

On an Instagram Live video, Ja Morant was seen waving a gun inside a car while listening to NBA YoungBoy’s music with a friend.

It’s the second gun scandal to have rocked Morant in just the past couple of months, with the first video also being on Instagram Live that showed the Grizzlies star flaunting a gun while inside a nightclub in Denver. Morant was suspended eight games for the incident, and also received counseling in Florida for his personal issues.

Come on now, Ja.

Now I just defended Ja Morant the other day for exercising his 2nd Amendment right and how he shouldn’t be criticized for loving guns, but I can’t defend him for this absolutely weak apology that’s only going to bring more heat his way. Like, it was literally the exact same apology he gave us the first time, but tweaked for a second scandal.

He also admitted he was wrong, and now that’s gonna mess him up even more. He should have just used the 2A argument and said that he simply loves guns, nothing wrong with that as long as he’s being safe — which he is. He’s just gonna have to ride this storm out, that’s what happens when you admit you’re wrong. Bad move.
