A suburban county executive called out Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York for attacking counties that are opposing the influx of migrants from New York City.

“It’s regrettable first of all to throw out the card of accusing everybody of bigotry,” Rockland County Executive Ed Day told Fox News host Dana Perino. “Let’s be clear about something: 30 counties and two towns in New York State have already declared state of emergency, over half the counties in the state, so obviously there is something there it’s called legitimate concerns, and it’s been raised by a majority of residents.” (RELATED: Abbott Calls For Crackdown On Stash Houses, Human Smuggling In Border Statement)

“I also want to say to parts of our country and our state who are enacting bigoted policies based on fear and intimidation, join us. Join us. let people know the true story of what New York is,” Hochul said, according to CBS News New York. Hochul made the remarks while floating the idea of housing migrants in aircraft hangars at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Over 1.2 million illegal immigrants have been encountered at the U.S.-Mexico border during fiscal year 2023, according to data released by United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), following 2,378,944 encounters in fiscal year 2022 and 1,734,686 in fiscal year 2021, while Fox News reported that 600,000 migrants evaded CBP in fiscal year 2022.

“We have been managing without asking the state for a penny, not a penny, but the mayor has gotten a billion dollars… to deport people from the state – from his city,” Day said. “It’s absolutely absurd, you’re not getting anything done.”
