“Yellowstone” is officially the most-watched entertainment show of the 2022-2023 television season, Variety reported Tuesday.
The Taylor Sheridan cowboy drama was the only non-sports television show to surpass an average viewership of more than 10 million viewers week after week, according to Variety. The epic series reached an average viewership of 11.6 million, almost 2 million more viewers than the next most popular show, “NCIS,” an absurd record for the series.
“Yellowstone” was also the only show with an average of a 2.0 rating or better amongst the key demographic of 18- to 49-year-olds. It is the second year in a row that Sheridan’s series hit the top spot within the category of scripted shows, just in time for it to conclude in the 2023-2024 television season, Wide Open Country reported.

Paramount confirmed in early May that “Yellowstone” will conclude after the second half of season five airs in November 2023. For months, rumors have been swirling around a dismantled relationship between Sheridan and his leading man, Kevin Costner. Neither party has denied a rift between them, but the real reason for “Yellowstone’s” premature ending is not yet known.

Almost nothing is known about the spinoff yet, other than it’ll likely feature many of the cast members from the original show. It all just depends on how Sheridan decides to conclude this chapter of the “Yellowstone” saga.
