Actor Elliot Page, a female who identifies as a transgender man, drew mockery from social media users Tuesday after claiming to be the victim of a “transphobic attack” outside a Los Angeles hotel.

Page alleged that a man approached her in West Hollywood and threatened to “fucking gay bash” the actor, who came out as transgender in 2020, the New York Post reported. Page claimed the alleged attacker also yelled “this is why I need a gun.”

Social media users immediately compared Page to disgraced actor Jussie Smollett, who infamously staged a racial hate crime in 2019 with the assistance of two Nigerian brothers, Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo. Smollett falsely claimed that two supporters of then-President Donald Trump yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him before punching him, pouring bleach over his head and tying a noose around his neck. Smollett said the two attackers yelled, “This is MAGA country.”

“Oh please,” Twitter personality Catturd wrote in response to the report.

“They were also overheard shouting ‘This is MAGA country!'” Washington Free Beacon and former Daily Caller News Foundation investigative reporter Chuck Ross wrote in response to Page’s claim. (RELATED: Elliot Page Went Through Reconstructive Chest Surgery Amid Transgender Transformation)

“Los Angeles is inhospitable to the trans community,” Ian Miles Cheong sarcastically posted. “Page’s attackers reportedly said ‘Welcome to Magadonia.'”

“Ellen Smollett,” Townhall columnist Derek Hunter tweeted.

A jury found Smollett guilty of five charges related to a false police report in Dec. 2021. He was released from prison after spending just six days behind bars.
