America’s national security is “clearly threatened” by the Biden family’s foreign business dealings, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer told the Daily Caller on Tuesday, after White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby dismissed concerns about the issue.

Kirby told the Caller on Monday that he had not read the House Oversight Committee’s May 10 report alleging that members of the Biden family — though not the president directly — received $10 million from foreign contacts in Romania and China while Joe Biden was vice president. Despite not reading it, Kirby said he had “no” national security concerns about the family’s overseas business connections.

“Ignorance must be bliss for John Kirby,” Comer told the Caller. “The Oversight Committee has obtained thousands of pages of financial records showing the Biden family made millions from foreign nationals providing what seems to be no services other than access and influence. The Bidens’ foreign business schemes are breathtaking and raise serious questions about why China, Romania, and other foreign actors targeted the Biden family and what they expected in return.”

“The national security of the United States is clearly threatened by the Biden family’s shady business deals. Americans deserve answers, transparency, and accountability,” Comer added.

Other members of the House Oversight committee also expressed concern about Kirby’s remarks.

Republican Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, who also sits on the committee, said Kirby “knows full well” about the document.

“John Kirby, like most Americans, knows full well that the Biden Family Syndicate set up shell companies and received over $10 million dollars from foreign governments and companies,” Gosar told the Caller. “Regardless of Kirby’s denials, it’s clear that the Bidens’ influence peddling and business schemes have compromised our national security and brought shame and ill repute to Joe Biden and his administration.”

“A sitting Vice-President potentially using his office to funnel millions of dollars to his family from foreign influencers would create serious national security concerns. It is dangerous for anyone to say otherwise, especially if they claim to have not read the report put together by the Oversight Committee,” Republican committee member Rep. Gary Palmer of Alabama told the Caller.

Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who also holds a seat on the Oversight Committee, previously told the Caller that the committee “is aiming to produce another report about the Biden family with information about Hunter Biden’s alleged relationships with foreign prostitutes.” (RELATED: EXCLUSIVE: Oversight Could ‘Destroy’ Biden’s 2024 Campaign, MTG Says)

Comer announced Wednesday that he had introduced a resolution to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in for contempt of Congress after the bureau has repeatedly refused to produce a document allegedly showing the president directly involved in a “pay-to-play” scheme. The FBI said that handing over the FD-1023 document could expose the identity of the anonymous source who provided the allegations about Biden.

Committee member and Republican Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna told the Caller that the alleged information about the Biden family “is really alarming and scary” and that Wray is “still conniving to shelter the Biden administration from its own sickening corruption.”

Republican South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace, another committee member, criticized the FBI for not doing its job.

“The American people deserve to know if their sitting President sold out his country. The FBI originally would not confirm the existence of the document; then it magically appeared,” she said. “If the FBI can’t verify information, investigate potential crimes, or keep people safe, what exactly are they good for?”
