As the east coast sees dangerous air quality levels due to Canadian wildfires, eerie images have some (us) wondering whether we’re looking at New York City or Mars.

Mass evacuations are underway in parts of Canada as hundreds of wildfires engulf the region and send thick clouds of smoke barreling into the U.S.

As of Wednesday, New York City is second behind Delhi, India for worst air quality and pollution, according to CBS News, which cited IQAir.

Incredible video shows near impossible visibility of the New York City skyline before a live shot of Fox’s Nate Foy in Manhattan looks as if he’s filming live on Mars.

In fact, the orange, opaque air might be out Mars-ing Mars, which pales in comparison to the color being seen in the Big Apple when comparing pictures.

UNSPECIFIED: In this concept illustration provided by NASA, NASA's Ingenuity Mars Helicopter stands on the Red Planet's surface as NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance rover (partially visible on the left) rolls away. NASA's Perseverance (Mars 2020) rover will store rock and soil samples in sealed tubes on the planet's surface for future missions to retrieve in the area known as Jezero crater on the planet Mars. A key objective for Perseverance's mission on Mars is astrobiology, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life. The rover will characterize the planet's geology and past climate, paving the way for human exploration of the Red Planet, and be the first mission to collect and cache Martian rock and regolith.
