Former President Donald Trump slammed Hunter Biden’s plea deal as “election interference” in a Truth Social post Tuesday.

Biden pleaded guilty in a deal to avoid jail time for criminal charges violating a gun felony and two tax misdemeanors. The younger Biden illegally purchased a handgun while under the possession of drugs and failed to pay his taxes in 2017 and 2018.

“No crime, no case. Election Interference!” Trump wrote.

The former president was charged in a 37-count indictment for his alleged mishandling of over 300 classified documents in his Mar-a-Lago home. He has accused President Joe Biden’s justice department of engaging in election interference by indicting him with the charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty. Classified documents were discovered at the Penn Biden Center, a think tank where the President previously held an office, Nov. 2, ahead of the midterm elections. Biden’s lawyers discovered additional documents from the Obama-Biden era in his private Delaware garage in January.

Hunter struck the deal with federal prosecutor David Weiss, whom Trump nominated to serve on the bench in 2017, The Washington Post reported. The Biden administration asked him to remain in his position as he oversaw the Hunter Biden criminal case, and suspected removing him would have sparked political backlash.
