President Joe Biden reacted Tuesday to Hunter Biden pleading guilty to two tax misdemeanors and entering a plea deal on a gun charge.

“I’m very proud of my son,” the president told a reporter after delivering remarks about Artificial Intelligence.

White House spokesman Ian Sams said, “the president and first lady love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life. We will have no further comment,” Fox News reported. (RELATED: NO JAIL TIME: Hunter Biden Pleads Guilty In Deal To Avoid Jail)

Hunter Biden was charged with two counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax and one count of possessing a firearm while using a controlled substance. He pled guilty to the tax offenses and agreed to enter a Pretrial Diversion Agreement for the firearm offense, thus avoiding jail time.

House Oversight Republicans are investigating Hunter Biden and the president regarding their alleged foreign business dealings while Joe Biden was vice president. This guilty plea will not end that investigation.

The first son is also involved in legal proceedings regarding his out-of-wedlock daughter, and has been ordered to attend all court proceedings in person. The judge overseeing the paternity case threatened Hunter Biden with up to six months in jail if he fails to show up in court to face questioning.
