Amazon MGM Studios dropped the second trailer for “Blink Twice” on Thursday, and it kind of feels like Channing Tatum wants to become the next big leading man.

A few names are in the running for Hollywood’s to-go trophy boy in 2024. Many believed it would be Timothée Chalamet. I think it’ll be Glen Powell. But then there’s Channing Tatum, who has had quite the career upswing in recent months. His next role sees him delving into what sounds like a pretty dark world.

“When tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It’s paradise. Wild nights blend into sun-soaked days and everyone’s having a great time,” the official description reads from MGM on “Blink Twice.”

“Nobody wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. Something is wrong with this place. She’ll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive,” it continues.

Frida is played by Naomi Ackie, who many may know from “Master of None” and “The End of the F***ing World.” (RELATED: Channing Tatum Is Surrounded By Mega Stars In ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ Trailer About The Moon Landing)

Simon Rex, Christian Slater, Haley Joel Osment, Alia Shawkat, and a whole host of other big names join Ackie and Tatum on screen, suggesting this pretty beige-looking movie might have a killer script behind it. I’m already intrigued to know what the twist is.

Tatum kind of came up in his career as a bit of a joke. He was a dancer, a dumb handsome guy with a good body. But now?

Now he’s an endearing leading man who can do everything from scary to funny to shocking to romance and all of it in between. If he carries on like this, Tatum could easily be the next George Clooney. Or he could even go full Nicolas Cage, taking on a catalog of films that’ll cement his icon status in Hollywood forever. Either is a win, and Tatum deserves it.

“Blink Twice” drops on August 23.
