HBO dropped their teaser for the 2024-2025 television season Sunday and boy, are we in for a treat.
We’ve waited almost two years for the second installment of “The Last of Us” storyline to continue and there is finally light at the end of the tunnel, though not for the characters by the looks of things. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are back as Joel and Ellie, this time joined by Catherine O’Hara, and Jeffrey Wright is reprising his role as Isaac, according to TV Insider.
The upcoming episodes look as haunting, violent, gripping and apocalyptic as the last. And we cannot wait to see them!
Aside from “The Last of Us,” we’ve a slew of other top shows ahead of us. Colin Farrell looks absolutely unstoppable as “The Penguin.” I highly recommend checking out the full trailer, as this series clearly steps away from all the classic superhero tropes and leans into the Gotham gang mentality and organized crime. It looks more like “The Sopranos” than any “Batman” movie I’ve seen. (RELATED: HBO Drops ‘The Penguin’ Trailer And It’s So Good You Won’t Be Able To Look Away)
“The White Lotus” is also coming back. This time we’re being whisked away to Thailand with Walton Goggins and Patrick Schwarzenegger to name but two guests. I can’t wait to see the rest!
Then we’ve got “Chimp Crazy,” brought to us by the brilliant minds behind everyone’s favorite cult classic docuseries “Tiger King.” Again, “Chimp Crazy” is so wild it deserves its own article. (RELATED: ‘Love Has Won’ Is The Most Horrifying, Addictive Documentary You’ll See All Year)
I’m also very excited for “The Franchise,” which looks like a total piss-take of every major movie franchise, especially the so-called superhero “universes” created by industry overlords with the imagination of a brick wall … don’t act like you don’t know the ones I’m talking about.
