Radio host Charlamagne Tha God on Wednesday told black Americans not to be smitten by Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate choice, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Harris tapped Walz on Tuesday, with some in the media suggesting he resembles an “uncle” or “dad.” Charlamagne, on “The Breakfast Club,” particularly advised “black people” not to view Walz as part of their family, saying they need to “embrace” each other rather than “white politicians.” (RELATED: Harris Once Bragged About Working ‘Behind The Scenes’ To Get Sex Change Surgeries For Trans Inmates)

“Black people, you do not have to fall in love with these politicians. It is just crazy to me how black people are so quick to jump on white political penis. It’s unbelievable,” Charlamagne said. “Y’all don’t have to create little cute nicknames for Tim Walz, okay? Y’all don’t have to have your little slogans ‘from the window to the Walz.’ You don’t have to do that.”

“I wish we loved each other immediately the way we are so quick to embrace these white politicians,” he added. “I mean, the cape just comes out for these white politicians. He’s not your uncle, alright? He’s not your coach, he’s not your fun dad — he’s a politician. Let’s treat this like business, okay? You don’t have to fall in love with him.”

Walz has a far-left record on issues, such as immigration, gender and religion.

CNN host Brianna Keilar on Tuesday asked her network’s senior political commentator David Axelrod whether Walz’s liberal record will be masked by his appealing look and personality.

“He just looks kind of like everyone’s uncle, right? … He just kind of has this sort of appeal to him. And I wonder if you can speak to that … Why does that matter that, I think sort of like the vessel here … let’s say his appearance and also his demeanor, just kind of straightforwardness of him. Is that going to trump his record?” she asked.

“You don’t look at this guy in any way, shape, or form and say, ‘boy, this guy looks like a raving left-wing extremist.’ He doesn’t sound like it, he doesn’t talk like it,” Axelrod said. “And most of his initiatives are economically oriented and speak to a working class agenda or working people agenda that is what, in fact, Kamala Harris is going to run on and probably should run on if she wants to win this election. But there’s no doubt that there’s going to be a race to define Kamala Harris and Tim Walz on the part of the Republicans.”
