Newly released police bodycam footage shows Travis Scott arguing with police leading up to his June arrest at Miami Beach.
The video showed Scott standing in the middle of the street while surrounded by police, as he attempted to explain why he returned to a yacht the police had previously told him to get off of. He expressed frustration about the sheer number of officers that were surrounding him and repeated that he was scared throughout the video.
“I ain’t got no weapon on me,” Scott told police, as he explained he needed to retrieve his bag from the yacht. Police exchanged words with the rapper before they slapped handcuffs on him.
Scott wasn’t going easily. He engaged the police in back and forth conversation, repeatedly telling them he just wanted his personal items.
“I’m not gonna do nothing,” he said. “Ya’ll scared me.”
Scott continued trying to convince police to allow him to collect his things from the vessel.
“It’s 50 cops around me, yo. There’s 10 of y’all”
“You said if I stopped walkin’, you was gonna lock me up!”
Police proceeded to arrest Scott for disorderly intoxication and trespassing and said they were called to the scene because he was allegedly engaged in a dispute with a worker on the yacht, according to NBC Miami. Police escorted him away from the boat and allowed him to leave. The newly released footage showed what happened when he made a return. Police said Scott was belligerent during their exchange. Prosecutors dropped the disorderly intoxication charge against Scott, but the state of Florida is moving forward with a misdemeanor trespassing charge.
