The first full trailer for “MONSTERS: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” dropped online Wednesday and it’ll make you be nicer to your kids.

Coming to us from “American Horror Story” visionary Ryan Murphy, the new season of his “MONSTERS” anthology series focuses on the Menendez brother’s murders, which rocked Los Angeles well before the days of O.J. Simpson’s chase and Britney Spears’ mental breakdowns. The two boys massacred their parents in cold blood at their Beverly Hills home in 1989. They’ve been in prison ever since. And now we get to finally, hopefully, understand why.

“While the prosecution argued they were seeking to inherit their family fortune, the brothers claimed — and remain adamant to this day, as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole — that their actions stemmed out of fear from a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse,” the trailer description reads. The opening supercut is haunting, revealing Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Erik and Lyle, respectively, telling their therapist about what they’ve done.

Javier Bardem plays their father, Jose. Chloe Sevigny portrays the mother, Kitty. Both will likely end up in a whole host of other Ryan Murphy shows, particularly Bardem. (RELATED: If The Trailer For ‘2073’ Doesn’t Convince You To Leave Modern Society, You’re Already Lost)

Like Taylor Sheridan, creator of “Yellowstone” and countless other hit series, Murphy likes to work with the same people over and over again. Both Sevigny and Bardem appeared in Murphy’s adaptation of “Eat, Pray, Love.” And something tells me the best is still yet to come from Bardem.

“MONSTERS: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” premieres Sept. 19.
